Child ADHD Assessment

At The Spectrum Clinic, we provide comprehensive Child ADHD Assessments to help families better understand their child’s needs and access appropriate support. Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects a child’s ability to focus, stay organised, and control impulses. Children with ADHD may act without thinking, struggle to regulate their emotions, and have difficulty staying on task. Our ADHD assessments are designed to give you a clear understanding of your child's challenges, allowing us to offer strategies and interventions that will help them succeed in their day-to-day life and at school.

Why Choose The Spectrum Clinic for ADHD Assessment?

Our assessments follow the highest standards, adhering to NICE guidelines and using Gold Standard tools to assess ADHD symptoms in children. Led by our team of experienced and accredited clinical psychologists, we ensure that every step of the process is handled with professionalism, confidentiality, and care.

The Child ADHD Assessment Process

Our Child ADHD assessment is thorough and involves several key steps to ensure we gather a comprehensive understanding of your child’s needs:

  1. Initial Questionnaires:
    • Once your assessment is booked, you will be sent questionnaires to complete. These gather background information about your child, including medical history, family background, and current difficulties.
    • We will also request input from your child’s school to understand how ADHD symptoms manifest in an educational setting. If your child is not in school, we can discuss alternative sources for additional information.
  2. Clinical Observation/Interview (approximately 1 hour):
    • A registered clinical psychologist will observe and assess your child to understand their symptoms and behaviour patterns.
  3. Specialist ADHD Interview (DIVA) (90 minutes):
    • The DIVA interview is a structured assessment designed to explore ADHD symptoms in both childhood and present day, ensuring an in-depth evaluation.
  4. QbCheck - Computerised Symptom Assessment:
    • We offer a computerised test (QbCheck) to measure attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity in a quantitative manner. This 15-20 minute assessment is provided at no extra cost.
  5. Feedback Session (about 30 minutes):
    • After the assessment, we will provide detailed feedback on whether your child meets the diagnostic criteria for ADHD and answer any questions you may have.
  6. Outcome Letter and Final Report:
    • An outcome letter will be sent within 48 working hours of the feedback session.
    • A comprehensive report, including extensive recommendations for home and school support, will follow within 4 weeks of the initial session.

Remote Assessments for Your Convenience

Our ADHD assessments are conducted remotely through our secure online platform, allowing your child to be assessed from the comfort and safety of home. We are highly experienced in remote assessments and ensure they are as effective and accurate as in-person evaluations.

Quick Turnaround and Continuous Support

We prioritise a quick turnaround, delivering the final report within four weeks of your initial session. The report will include personalised recommendations to support your child in school and at home. If needed, we also offer additional post-diagnostic support, such as therapy and school-based interventions.
